What’s involved in installing a standby generator?

A standby (whole-home or partial-home) generator installation generally involves setting the generator on a pad outside the home, running gas piping to fuel it (propane or natural gas), and wiring it into your electrical system with an automatic transfer switch so it kicks on when utility power drops. We handle the gas piping and generator installation; Atlantic Electrical Services handles the electrical wiring and transfer switch.

Does a generator run on propane or natural gas?

Generac generators can run on either, depending on what’s available at your property. If you already have a propane tank or a natural gas line for your heating system, the generator can often tie into the same fuel source.
